Kenan Tamer is a guide for Turkey and has been to over 100 countries. He speaks English like a native speaker. You will find him to be a lot of fun, with a warped sense of humour. Born in 1969 in Cheshire, UK, to a Turkish father and an English mother, Kenan Tamer was raised in Turkey. He started his studies at the best high school of Turkey, the American Robert College of Istanbul, with the most stringent entrance qualifications. He was ranked number three in the nation with his entrance grades. The above mentioned school has given Turkey two prime ministers and a nobel laureate in literature. Once he graduated from Robert college, he continued with his studies at the Bosphorous University where he studied Economics. During his third year, he won a full scholarship to finish his studies at Berry College, GA. He graduated from Berry college with a major in Economics and a minor in Business Administration. After his undergraduate work, he got another scholarship to study Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration at a graduate level at the university of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he got his MS.


An avid reader in literature and passionate for arts, history and culture; he travelled extensively within Turkey and abroad, finally deciding to pursue his passion and travel experiences, to become a professional tour guide after getting his license from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism 32 years ago.


Kenan guides tours all over Turkey and all over the world, having visited over 100 countries. His hometown Istanbul has a special place in his heart. He loves this magnificent city with all of its diversity representing its long imperial past and modern cosmopolitan life. In addition to introducing his guests to world famous historical sites of Istanbul, he is most sought after his special walking tours and hop-on hop off urban discoveries where he takes guests to undiscovered neighborhoods, historical areas, streets, restaurants and brings them along on a treasure hunt of art and music in Istanbul. He has led a broad mixture of private tours ranging from Curator led museum tours to cultural as well as special-interest private tours with celebrities, CEOs, military commanders and art patrons.
